About Us

Founded in 2023, Uyghur Rights Monitor (URM) is a watchdog initiative that produces focused policy briefs and investigative reports. URM investigates the systems and perpetrators responsible for designing, administering, and implementing repression against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in the Uyghur Region, also known as East Turkestan and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR). Our goal is to equip activists, human rights defenders, and policymakers with timely data, critical analysis, and actionable insights to expose abuses and hold accountable the entities and senior officials involved in human rights violations.
